The dynamic curator behind the infamous window features at Caduceus Cellars tasting room has brought an expansive and fascinating collection to Jerome! The love of oddities began young in this designer and has resulted in 45 years of collecting animal skulls.

“I grew up in the rural country sides of south central Kansas. As a kid, my friend and I would explore the farmlands and rivers of the area. One day, I found a perfectly preserved coyote skull in the weeds near a ditch. The skull was fascinating…this began my collection. I was 10 years old.”

The collection contains over 1500 skulls and 1000 different species including; mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. The partnership with Caduceus has left visitors and locals in awe for years. Featuring both organic and crafted specimens, the impact of this art is mesmerizing and haunting. We asked the mastermind a few questions about their inspiration and motivation for opening here in Jerome, here’s what they had to say:

“The idea for The Skullatorium began a little over 15 years ago. My wife Pam and I visited Jerome and fell in love with the history, the art, the vibes, and Jerome itself. We had casually discussed the possibility of opening a museum some day with all the skulls I had been collecting…we decided that if we were going to do it, it needed to be Jerome”

In addition to the educational and interesting museum tour, The Skullatorium has a gift shop that will delight any oddity lover. Expect an assortment of one-of-ab-kind animal bones, skulls, oddity jars, fossils, Wunderkammer, and dark art.

This new attraction is a MUST see in Jerome for all locals and visitors. Come immerse yourself in the endless curiosities and rich history The Skullatorium provides.
